Expression of Interest - Telehealth known supplier and products list for Residential Aged Care Facilities

Background

COORDINARE – South Eastern NSW PHN, Capital Health Network (CHN), and South Western Sydney PHN (SWSPHN) are three of 31 Primary Health Networks (PHNs) established throughout Australia with the key objectives of improving the efficiency and effectiveness of health services for patients, particularly those at risk of poor health outcomes, and improving coordination of care to ensure patients receive the right care in the right place at the right time.

The PHNs are working to roll out grants to Residential Aged Care Facilities (RACFs) in the Southern NSW, South Western Sydney and ACT regions, to support the use of telehealth to connect with health care providers. The open tender for RACFs will be undertaken in March / April 2023.

Expression of Interest (EOI)

To further assist in the adoption of telehealth among RACFs, we are conducting an Expression of Interest (EOI) for telehealth technology providers to apply to be included in a register of known suppliers and products. The identified suppliers register will be made available to RACFs participating in our open tender process, to assist them in finding and purchasing the infrastructure to improve their telehealth capacity.

RACFs may use the register to contact the identified suppliers for the purpose of supplying equipment (this can include small / portable units, telehealth stations and/or telehealth carts, and other patient assessment equipment), as well as training and technical support.

Eligible submissions will include submissions from suppliers with ABNs (Australian Business Number) who sell telehealth equipment, infrastructure or training and who can confirm their products adhere to the Australian Government legal requirements for patient information safety and security, as well as the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine’s (ACRRM) Telehealth Framework and Guidelines. For example, webcams, tablets and computers, clinical observation equipment, telehealth software, and training and educational packages.

COORDINARE covers a region made up of 12 local government areas - spanning from Wollongong in the north to Crookwell, and Snowy Monaro in the west and the Bega Valley in the south. The region includes:

• up to 80 residential aged care facilities.

Australian Capital Territory

Capital Health Network covers the entire Australian Capital Territory. The region’s population continues to see steady growth, with a population increase between 1.07 and 1.65 each year for the last seven years (between 4,500 and 6,500 people per year). The region includes:

• 455,610 people living in the Capital Health Network catchment
• 60,976 residents aged over 65 years
• 28 residential aged care facilities.

South Western Sydney

South Western Sydney PHN covers the south western suburbs of metropolitan Sydney and extends south to the Southern Highlands. It includes the seven LGAs of Camden, Campbelltown, Fairfield, Liverpool, Wingecarribee, Wollondilly and of the former Bankstown, now part of Canterbury-Bankstown LGA. The diverse region is one of the fastest growing in NSW and includes:

• 1,057,080 people living in South Western Sydney
• 62,916 residents aged over 65 years
• 69 residential aged care facilities.
